Topsail Beach

Situated at the southern end of Topsail Island, off the coast of southeastern North Carolina, the Town of Topsail Beach. The Island is just off US Highway 17, about half-way between Wilmington and Jacksonville.

Topsail Island has a rich and varied history. Local folklore claims the name, Topsail (pronounced Tops’l), originated during the 1700’s when pirate ships roamed the coastal waters.

Historians explain that marauding pirates hid their ships in the channel behind the island and waited for passing merchant ships loaded with goods. The pirates would pursue and attack the merchants, claiming the cargoes as their own.

The Botanical Gardens at UNCC

The Botanical Gardens consist of three main areas – the McMillan Greenhouse complex, the 3-acre Susie Harwood Garden, and the 7-acre Van Landingham Glen. The three areas are located together, on the east side of the UNC Charlotte campus. Each garden has something unique to offer – from the orchids, desert plants, carnivorous plants, and tropical wonders of the greenhouse... to the native wildflowers, trees, and rhododendrons in the peaceful setting of the Glen... to the intimate, artful settings in the Harwood Garden including the Winter garden, Asian garden, Water Garden, and much rockwork throughout.

Maysville, Kentucky

Maysville was a thriving little town in the 1950s. Downtown flourished with a multitude of retail business. Stores stayed open on Friday night. There was no Sunday sales. No parking meters. No one way streets. On weekend nights they just “ rolled up the sidewalk” People came from miles around to shop in downtown Maysville. Arnheim, Brown County, Ohio

Peace Lutheran Church, Arnheim, Brown County, Ohio

Since 1825 there had been a large German element in the population of this locality. Arnheim is named after Jacob Arn, one of the first settlers. The latter part, "heim" is German for home.


In early years Arnheim was quite a business center. There were two stores, a blacksmith shop, wagon shop, cabinet maker, undertaker, coffin maker, tailor, brewery, distillery, tobacco warehouse, physician, post office, school, Catholic Church and Lutheran German Reformed Church.
